Good Advice...

...is Still the Best Medicine.

Annual report 2009

we believe Good Advice...

...is Still the Best Medicine.

We have had a very busy year keeping up with increased pressure on individuals and families in Michigan. We are seeing more adults and children overwhelmed by extreme stress. Depression, suicide threats, anxiety, panic attacks, divorce, gambling addictions, substance abuse, and pornography addictions all seem to be at epidemic proportions. Our psychotherapists and office staff are working harder than ever to help each of our patients find a way through daunting adversity. Just as the need for our services is at its highest, the financial means to afford treatment is lowest.  We have compensated for this by stretching time between appointments when we can, providing samples and advocacy for free medications from drug companies for those in need, and cutting costs where we can to try and maintain care for long term patients who are having difficulties.  Our resources are stretched, but we have managed to continue to serve about the same number of individuals as in the prior year.

Summary of directions for the future

We will make adjustments necessary to continue to serve the community. We are addressing our challenges by further expanding volume of service, especially psychiatric medication management services, which seem to be in highest demand.  We also will increase community education and outreach activities, and substantially upgrade our internet presence with a redesigned web site.
